Update Nameservers
You can either set the nameservers of a domain to point to the ones linked to your organisation or custom ones.
Changing Nameservers without ensuring all DNS records are added to the new Nameservers can cause disruption to any services linked to the domain name, this includes things like Microsoft 365 (Email) and the Website, among other thing
If Using Cloudflare, most DNS records will be added by Cloudflare's automated DNS scanner, however, please ensure you check the records prior to switching the nameserver, as some records may be missing/incorrect
Steps
- Open the Domain itself (see "Find the Domain Name")
- In the "Advanced" section, click on "Edit" next to the Name Servers text
You can use the switch at the top to set using custom nameservers to "Yes" or "No"
- When using your organisation's Cloudflare account this option will most likely be set to "No"
- Press "Save changes" to update the domain name
- It may take up to 48 hours for the change to propagate to the whole internet (usually less then an hour)
